There was a busy night of action in Division Three of the All County League with Fintona enjoying a well deserved win over neighbours and rivals Tattyreagh. The Tatts had opened the scoring through Chris Mc Carroll but found themselves 1-5 to 0-1 behind at the break with Niall Mellon getting his side’s goal and points coming from Aarron Mc Carney, Jason Donnelly, Conor Mc Cann and Bernard Cassidy. Indeed Cassidy found the net in the second half just as the Tatts were threatening a comeback with points from Mc Carroll again and Conor Taggart. Jason Donnelly also found the net for the winners as the Pearses claimed the points and bragging rights on a final score of 3-7 to 0-9.
Glenelly and Dregish met again five days after their championship clash which saw five players sent off. Tonight’s game however was a much calmer affair but Glenelly again came out on top. The teams were level 0-5 apiece at the break but an early second half goal from Aidy O’Kane put the visitors in the driving seat. However Glenelly came back strong and Seamus Harkin again found the net to put his team in pole position. They held out to win 1-10 to 1-8 with Harkin (1-5) and Stevie Breen (0-6) top scoring for their respective sides.
Aghaloo suffered a surprise defeat at home to Errigal Ciaran Thirds losing 3-11 to 1-12 in a high scoring and entertaining game. Gerard Mc Caughey hit five points for Aghaloo while their goal came from C Cuddy. Errigal had two goals from centre back Quinn while Cahir Tierney also found the net for them. Michael and Mattie Harte, Peter Loughran and Ronan Tierney all hit points for the winners in what was a very good team display.
Drumquin took a lot of confidence from their championship win at the weekend and came out on the right side of a 1-13 to 0-10 win over Drumragh this evening. There was not much between the sides at the break with Drumquin leading 1-5 to 0-7 their goal coming from Benny Gormley. The Wolfe Tones controlled the second half with both Frankie Mc Alynn and Ryan Mc Callion leading the way in scoring with 0-6 each.
Beragh enjoyed a 1-13 to 1-11 win over Clogher. More details to follow.
