Division Three Wrap Up
Sunday 04.05.2014
Tattyreagh made home advantage pay this evening when they enjoyed a 4-15 to 2-12 win over Brocagh. The Tatts were in total control early on following a Gareth Mimnagh goal and three points from Eoghan Murray. At one stage Tattyreagh led 2-10 to 1-3 following 1-3 from Damien Mc Gloin and points from Colin Harkin and James Darcy. Brocagh did stage something of a comeback in the second half but a goal from county minor Darcy sealed the win for Tattyreagh.
Clogher and Glenelly could not be separated in the first half and reached the break tied at 0-6 each. Glenelly’s scorers were Seamus Harkin (0-4), Kevin Mc Connell and Tony Mc Cormack while Ciaran Shields (0-2), Mark Bogue (0-2), Mark Tierney and Mark Mc Connell were on target for the Eire Ogs. The second half however saw Clogher pompletely on top as they plunder edfour goals with three coming from open play and one from the penalty spot courtesy of S Mc Caffrey . P Mc Kernan, P Tierney and M Mc Connell got the scores that ensured Clogher took the points on a final score of 4-14 to 0-8.
Derrytresk continued their winning ways as they inflicted a nine point defeat on Drumquin. The hill men were four in front at the break but a Cathal O’Neill goal sealed the win for the former junior champions. Four players, Liam Slater, Joe Mc Kee, Conor Gavan and Sean Slater bagged a brace of points each while Drumquin had only three points to show for their day’s labour with Frankie Mc Alynn, Liam Patterson and Paul Sheridan on target.
Aghaloo and Dregish served up a goal fest as the visitors came out on the right side of a 2-15 to 4-8 score line. Fergus Mc Crossan converted his second penalty of the day with a minute left to narrow the gap to a point but Dregish then missed a great chance to level the game right at the death. Peter Mc Crossan and Marty Bonner also hit the net for the home sides while Stevie Breen(3), Mark Catterson(2) and Ronan Glackin all contributed points for Dregish. Aghaloo however were not to be denied as once again Tiarnan Donnelly (6) led the way in scoring while others to hit the target were Ruairi Mc Glone(1-3), C Mullen (1-01) and J Mc Glone (0-2).
Clann na Gael recorded another narrow win this time over a committed Beragh Red Knights side that reached the break a point ahead 1-5 to 0-7. Mark Franey hit the Beragh goal midway through the opening half while Marty Rodgers contributed several points. Brendan Conway and Danny Ball accounted for five of their team’s first half total while county man Sevie O’Neill was another to find the target. The North Tyrone side out scored their visitors in the second period as Niall Kerlin’s 48th minute goal turned out to be the key score of the game. Eddie Molloy, Martin Rodgers and Hugh Franey were among the points for a disapointed Beragh side. Final score Clan nna Gael 1-13, Beragh 1-10.
Fintona travelled to Castlederg on Sunday and were made fight all the way for their first win of the season. In a close and competitive first half a Niall Catterson goal for the Derg ensured there was little between the sides at the short whistle. The home side came out confidently for the second half but it was the Pearses that hit the ground running. A couple of early points gave them a cushion to build on and although scores from Mark Corry, Brian Coyle and Stefain Gallen took Castlederg to within a point of Fintona they finished up on the wrong side of a 0-14 to 1-10 score line. On a day when the scores were well spread throughout the Fintona side Aaron Mc Carney, Tomas Mc Grath, Pauric Kelly, Niall Mellon, Sonnie Mc Donough and Kevin Mc Girr were among their scorers.
Owen Roes came close to creating something of a shock as they held Rock to a draw in the evening game in Division Three. The visitors led 1-4 to 0-2 at the break with Cathal Mc Shane hitting their goal from the penalty spot. Rock improved after the break but were denied a goal from the penalty spot by a great save from Ryan Mc Shane. Conor Mc Creesh (4) and Martin Mc Creesh(1) got their side’s points but it took a late goal from Ryan Crilly to ensure Rock got something from the game. Final score 1-5 apiece.
