Brian Dooher returned to action for Tyrone today.

Division Two of the All County League threw up some big stories and interesting results. The result and performance of the day has to be Newtownstewart’s win away to Galbally. The Pearses had come down from senior football last year and were expected by many to be the pace setters in this league. This opening day defeat at home will come as a big shock to Johnny Mc Bride and his management team. Ryan Maise and Paul Rafferty got the goals for their respective sides. There were home defeats for the two remaining former senior sides Aghyaran and Kildress as Pomeroy and Eskra respectively started the new season with convincing away wins. Mark McKenna and Sean Quinn were among the points for the Plunketts with Caolan Dolan top scoring for the St.Davogs while Peter Hughes and Paul Meegan featured on the scoresheet for the Emmetts.

Rock also enjoyed a fine opening day win away to Strabane with John Ward bagging the only goal of the game, Warner Mullan top scoring for the Sigersons. Urney hosted Killyman and the St.Columbas shaded the verdict with PJ McMenamin and Johnny Lafferty among their points. Conor Hackett scored two goals as Augher made home advantage count against Gortin, Kevin Mossey top scoring for the visitors while Gary McCurrie, Darren McCurrie and Harry Og Conlon all scored goals as Edendork beat Stewartstown, Gareth DEvlin with a number of points for the Harps.

Loughmacrory were another side who made home advantage count against Clan na Gael in a game that saw three players sent off. Enda Ward top scored for the hosts but Ciaran Ward with 1-4 to his name was the biggest threat for Loughmacrory. Gareth Mc Dermott registered several points for Clan na Gael while Stephen O’Neill grabbed a goal for the visitors.
