Tyrone Secure First Competitive Win with Dominant Display Against Louth

Tyrone seniors claimed their first competitive victory of the season with a commanding performance over Louth in rain-soaked conditions in Moy. The final scoreline of 5-18 to 0-1 reflected their dominance from the outset.

The scoring was opened by Roisin McErlean and joint captain Siobhan Donnelly, setting the tone for a relentless Tyrone attack. Aine Cunningham impressed with her penetrating runs and added a couple of points from set plays before Grainne McDonald struck an outstanding goal. Further goals followed from McErlean and Bronagh Moohan, as Tyrone’s high work rate ensured they controlled proceedings. Grainne Rafferty played a key role in turnovers, while the defence, marshalled by Grainne Cassidy, nullified any Louth advances with ease. At half-time, the home side held a deserved lead of 3-10 to 0-0.

Tyrone continued their dominance in the second half, using their squad depth effectively, with Rachel O’Neill making an immediate impact. Louth briefly found momentum when referee Paul O’Neill called a square ball against Tyrone, and they soon converted a single free. However, this was short-lived as Cunningham responded with a goal also from a free, maintaining Tyrone’s momentum. Despite the challenging weather, the Red Hands fought for every ball, keeping the scoreboard ticking over.

Tyrone will look to carry this confidence into their next match against tougher opposition of Kildare.
