Donaghmore Ease To Championship Win

Donaghmore bounced back from their under 16 league defeat on Saturday to claim the Championship title defeating Cappagh 7-18 to 0-3 in a rather one sided affair at Carrickmore on Thursday evening.

The winners hit the ground running and were 3-4 to 0-0 up before the first water break. Their pace, movement and finishing had the Cappagh lads chasing shadows all evening and with the chances they created it was no surprise that they ran up such an impressive score line.

Ronan Molloy (2), Noah Grimes (2) and Conor O’Neill all hit first half goals for their side while Cormac Drayne, Ronan Cassidy, Ronan Molloy and John Mc Kenna were among the points for the winners. Gavin Potter broke the duck for Cappagh just before the break to leave the half time score Donaghmore 5-9 Cappagh 0-1.

Cappagh registered the first two scores of the second half with points from Caolan O’Hagan and Michael Rafferty but any chance of a comeback disappeared with Donaghmore hitting 1-3 inside eight minutes to pull even further away. Included in these scores was a well struck forty five from the boot of goalkeeper Conan Mc Garvey and a well finished goal from the industrious Cormac Mc Cartan.

Donaghmore continued to create chances while their defence worked hard to deny Cappagh any real scoring opportunities. A Peter Mc Aleer goal and three fine points from the boot of Ronan Cassidy rounded off the scoring and sealed the win for Donaghmore.
