SFC | Donaghmore Get First Win Of Season
Sunday 07.06.2015
As expected the opening game in the double bill at Edendork on Sunday afternoon went right to the wire with Deasun Quinn’s free kick deep into injury time securing Donaghmore’s first win of the season at the expense of Moy.
The winners got off to a dream start when centre half forward Peter McKenna first timed the ball to the net from close range after good work from Quinn. Moy responded though to draw level thanks to points from Sean Cavanagh, Thomas Conlon and Anthony Rafferty. Niall McKenna fisted two first half points while his brother Peter fisted one to put the St.Patricks four clear but Moy ended the half on top with efforts from the Cavanagh brothers Colm and Sean as well as Conlon to close the gap to 1-7 to 0-8.
A superb point with the outside of the boot from Mark Hetherington stretched Donaghmore’s lead but then a Conal Duffy goal levelled matters. Hetherington and Niall Conlon traded points before Moy lost Anthony Rafferty to a straight red. Moments later Donaghmore were down to fourteen men as well when Sean McCaul picked up a second booking. Quinn and Duffy swapped points before Philip Donnelly put Donaghmore in front. Four minutes into injury time a Sean Cavanagh free looked to have earned Moy a replay but there was still time for Donaghmore to grab a winner via Quinn.
