Donaghmore 6-8 Errigal Ciaran 2-10

Donaghmore are Grade 1 U14 League champions after a fully deserved win over a gallant Errigal Ciaran side at Pearse Park in Galbally on Saturday morning.

The lively Daniel O’Neill scored an early goal for the winners either side of Errigal Ciaran points from Finlay Boyd and Kayden McGirr. O’Neill, Ruan Kavanagh and Roan Ogle tagged on points before GHOST PIZZA man of the match Kavanagh got his side’s second goal. The impressive Ronan Horisk added a point before the winners got their third goal of the contest via Mark Hughes. A brace from Hugh Gormley closed the gap slightly but Donaghmore still led 3-4 to 0-4 at the break.

Boyd and Michael Torres exchanged points in the third quarter but when Kavanagh blasted to the roof of the net it was effectively game over. Boyd landed a two pointer but then midfielder Kavanagh completed his hattrick. Donaghmore’s sixth goal came from a Lorcan Barr penalty before McGirr and Kane Jones traded points. Errigal Ciaran midfielder Ciaran Hackett then got a goal and after Dara O’Donnell and Matthew Hetherington had scored for their respective sides Frankie Donnelly got his name on the scoresheet for Donaghmore. Errigal Ciaran had the final say with a Liam Harte goal but it was Donaghmore’s day.
