Donaghmore produced a complete team performance as they defeated Moy in the Grade Two minor championship final at Eglish on Wednesday evening winning 3-17 to 2-6.

The “Village” lads started brightly and were five up inside the opening five minutes as Eoin Kavanagh, Fergal Donaghy and Dermott Mc Aleer found the target. Donaghmore moved seven ahead after a further point from Fergal Donaghy and a fine score from the boot of team captain Sean Donaghy.

It took Moy fifteen minutes to open their account with Michael Conroy converting a brace of frees. However Donaghmore continued to dominate and Sean Donaghy and Eoin Kavanagh added further points before big full forward Dermot Mc Aleer reacted quickest to a fine save from Moy goalkeeper Niall Mc Cormack. He finished the ball to the net to send his team in at the break leading 1-11 to 0-3.

Moy started the second half in a positive manner with goals from Michael Conroy and Jamie Coleman. However Mc Aleer was on hand with his and his team’s second goal to ease any Donaghmore nerves. The winners controlled the remainder of the game restricting Moy to only three further points while they added another 1-5 with their final goal coming from the boot of midfielder Conor Woods.

Team captain Sean Donaghy received the trophy on behalf of his team mates from Tyrone CCC representative Cathal Daly.
