Donegal U16s outscored 14 man Tyrone 0-8 to 0-2 in the second half in Ardboe on Saturday afternoon to record a second win in this years Buncrana Cup competition.  The holders played the majority of the second half with a one man advantage and they made the most of it in a game dominated by a strong wind blowing across the field.

Tyrone led 2-2 to 0-3 at the break thanks to two well taken first half goals from Conor Cush and Gareth Donaghy.  Daniel Mullan opened the scoring in the 3rd minute with a point from play and the Red Hands took a four point lead a minute later thanks to that Cush goal.  Donegal responded with points from Caolan McClintock and Christopher Mulligan but Tyrone increased the lead to five points when Gareth Donaghy found the net after a brilliant move in the 18th minute.  Scores for the remainder of the half were harder to come by as both defences found their feet but Donegal’s Caolan McClintock and Tyrone’s Conor Cush did add points ahead of the short whistle.  Tyrone 2-2 Donegal 0-3.

A very short half time team talk seemed to spark the Donegal side into action as they went on to hit Tyrone with six points in a row in the opening 19 minutes of the second period.  Sean McEntee, Christopher Mulligan, Blake McGarvey and Caolan McClintock all added scores during that time for Donegal.  Tyrone’s cause wasn’t helped by the loss of corner back Eoin Barkley through a second yellow card in the 43rd minute.  Tyrone hit their first score of the second half in the 55th minute from a Conor Cush free put Donegal pushed on and added two more scores from Blake McGarvey and substitute David Boyle.  Tyrone did hit the final point as  Senan Morgan blasted the ball over the bar but Donegal hung on for the one point win. Final Score: Donegal 0-11 Tyrone 2-4.
