Naomh Eoghan 1-20 Aghyaran 1-12

Following their defeat of north Tyrone neighbours Aghyaran, Naomh Eoghan remain on course for a possible intermediate league and championship double.

Naomh Eoghan went into the game as favourites following their recent Division Two league win. They began strongly and with less than eight minutes on the clock led 0-6 to no score with their points coming from Eoin Devine, Ryan Mayse, Tiarnan Mayse and Aidan Mc Sorley. Aghyaran looked all at sea as they struggled to get to the pace of the contest but that was soon to change.

Eoghan Mc Hugh and Diarmuid Mc Hugh hit their first points of the game to get things going before Benny Gallen landed a two pointer to narrow the gap to three points. Both sides swapped points as Ryan Mayse and Aidan Mc Sorley scored for the league champions and Aghyaran replied courtesy of a Ronan Mc Hugh point and a goal from Eoin Mc Hugh.

Following an entertaining first half there was little between the sides as Aghyaran led 1-9 to 0-1- at the break.

Naomh Eoghan came out for the second half with the wind and began the second half on the front foot. Goalkeeper Connor Traynor got things going with a converted forty five only to see Diarmuid and Ethan Mc Hugh  reply for the border men. Ryan Mayse and Ethan Mc Hugh swapped points again to tie the scores as both sides fought for supremacy.

Midway through the half a two pointer from Michael Corless put Naomh Eoghan in front again before a fine strike from Conall Mc Conomy made it a four point game with five minutes remaining on the clock. Aghyaran pushed forward and although they created a number of good chances they could not plunder the goal they needed to save the game.
