Wednesday proved to be a good day for the fortunes of St.Patricks Academy Dungannon as they qualified for the semi finals of both the Dalton and Brock Cups with wins in both competitions against Abbey CBS Newry. In the Brock Cup game Dungannon led 4-6 to 3-2 and they went on to win by a dozen points on a 6-11 to 4-5 score line. Ruairi McGlone top scored with 2-2, Mickey Lynn and Sean Corr hit 1-2 each, Stevie McGrath got 1-1, Tiernan Donnelly notched three points while Conor McCabe got the other goal and Pearse Quinn got his name on the score sheet as well. They now play St.Macartans Monaghan in the semi final which may take place this weekend.

In the Dalton Cup it was even more convincing as they ran out 12-13 to 5-7 winners. They got off to the perfect start when a first minute Ryan Coleman goal was followed moments later by a successful penalty from Cormac O’Hagan. By the tenth minute Abbey CBS were back on level terms after they scored three goals but then Dungannon took over. Daniel Kerr scored two goals with Shay Gordon also finding the net while there were points from O’Hagan, Daley Jones, Stephen Corr, Paul Donaghy and Mark Quinn as they racked up 5-10 in the first half. In the second half Kerr scored another three goals and Jones grabbed two with Coleman and Corr also shooting to the net. They now meet St.Pius X Magherafelt in next week’s semi final.
