Old adversaries Dromore and Errigal Ciaran served up a very competitive and highly entertaining match at Gardrum Park on Sunday in front of a large crowd before Dromore emerged deserved 1-10 to 1-5 winners.

Ruairi Sludden top scored for the winners with 1-6 while Sean Mc Nabb, Niall Sludden and Sean Mc Donnell also found the target for the St Dympnas.

Dromore began well and in spite of playing into the breeze they reached the break 0-6 to 0-3 in front. Errigal struggled to make the most of the elements in their favour but with Daisy Mc Dermott and Brian Horisk on form they served notice they were going to make life difficult for the home side.

Dromore moved four in front with a lovely score from Mc Donnell three minutes into the scond half. There followed a dramatic few minutes that saw Cathal Mac Crory sent off, Peter Harte’s penalty saved by Peter Ward and Ruairi Sludden score a superb goal.

That goal put nine points between the teams but Errigal refused to give up and with Peter Harte, Eoin Quinn, Ronan Mac Rory and Davy Harte driving them forward they caused the Dromore defence several anxious moments. However the experience of Ryan Mc Menamin and Fabian O’Neill ensured the Errigal renaissance yielded only a goal and two points and Dromore advanced to the league final where they will take on Killyclogher.

Final score Dromore 1-10, Errigal Ciaran 1-5.
