Dromore and Dungannon served up an entertaining game on Friday evening before the St. Dympnas deservedly lifted the Grade One Under 21 title following a 1-13 to 0-9 win.

Winners need their big players to perform in the big games and the men in blue certainly saw their key men produce the goods in this one. Corner forward Emmett Mc Nabb top scored as he hit 1-8 of his team’s total while team captain Peter Teague, centre back Ryan Mc Cusker, Odhran Rafferty in midfield and Cathal Colton all produced superb displays for the winners.

Oran Mallon and Dalaigh Jones battled hard to keep the Clarke’s in it but a couple of missed goal chances including a penalty ten minutes into the second half proved costly.

Dungannon began the game well with a brace of points from Oran Mallon inside the opening six minutes before Dromore settled. Mc Nabb then hit four in a row as Dromore took over. By half time the eventual winners looked in total control as they led 0-8 to 0-3.

The second half saw Dungannon improve and Mark Mc Kearney, Lorcan Mallon and Gary Molloy did cause problems for the Dromore defence. However with Cahir Goodwin in fine form Dromore’s ability to counter attack through Mc Nabb and Oran Sludden paid dividends. A fortuitous goal thirteen minutes into the second half all but sealed the win and although Dungannon enjoyed a greater share of possession late in the game they failed to really trouble Dromore and the St Dympnas were deserving winners.
