Dromore Make Final At Second Time Of Asking

Dromore made no mistake this evening when they had six points to spare over a disappointing Killyclogher team in the power NI Senior semi final at Healy Park. Right from the off the county champions looked the hungrier more motivated side as they opened the scoring within thirty seconds through Niall Sludden. Conditions made life difficult for both teams but Killyclogher struggled to raise the intensity levels of their game to last week’s levels and key men Dermot Carlin, Eoin Bradley and Ryan Mc Aleer struggled to make an impact. Dromore were sharper and hungrier all over the field with Ronan Mc Nabb and Eoin Mc Cusker causing all sorts of problems for the Killyclogher defence. Mc Nabb finished a fine move to the net midway through the first half to put Dromore in control and when Paddy Montague capitalised on a mistake by Killyclogher goalkeeper Mark O’Kane early in the second half it signalled the end of the road for Kieran Howe’s side.

In fairness they kept plugging away and James Carlin landed two fine points but it was too little too late. They really needed a goal but the Dromore defence stood strong and ensured there would be no late comeback as they finished worthy six point winners on a scoreline of 2-6 to 0-6. Paul Mc Iver’s side will now meet Errigal Ciaran in the senior county final next Sunday October 7th at Healy Park.
