Dromore are through to the last four of the LCC Senior Championship after a narrow and low scoring win over Omagh at Loughmacrory on Sunday afternoon. Played in difficult conditions both teams performed better against the breeze but ultimately it was Dromore who prevailed and made it through to a semi final clash with Errigal Ciaran.

The defending champions found themselves on the back foot for long periods of the first half as Laurence Strain’s team worked hard on retaining possession but struggled for accuracy with the chances they created. Omagh ran up a total of twelve wides over the course of the hour, six in each half.

Ronan O’Neill opened the scoring after three minutes but chances were few and far between in difficult conditions. Dromore broke their duck with a free from Peter Teague on thirteen minutes and five minutes later went ahead after Emmett Mc Nabb pointed from a narrow angle.

Dromore goalkeeper Mark Mc Gale then made a wonder save when he turned away a looping effort from Conor Meyler but Conan Grugan levelled the scores with his team’s second point. Dromore went in at the break 0-3 to 0-2 ahead when Ronan Mc Nabb Junior pointed shortly before the short whistle.

The second half saw Dromore use all their experience as they retained possession for long periods and dictated the flow and tempo of the game. Half time substitute Niall Sludden contributed two of his team’s three second half points with Peter Teague also on target. Omagh spent most of the second half defending and could not get level in spite of scores from Daniel Mc Crossan and Barry Tierney. They did create numerous chances but failed to make the most of them. Niall Sludden stretched the Dromore lead to two points with his second point of the half. Ronan Strain reduced the gap to a single point and gave Omagh hope but they just could not get the all important equaliser and with Ronan Mc Nabb leading the line Dromore held out for a 0-6 to 0-5 win and a spot in the semi finals.

SCORERS- Dromore; Niall Sludden 0-2, Peter Teague 0-2, Emmett Mc Nabb 0-1, Ronan Mc Nabb Junior 0-1.
