Dromore Win D1 League Title

Dromore were crowned division one league champions at Fintona on Saturday afternoon when they produced a superb second half display to overcome defending champions Errigal Ciaran on a 1-10 to 1-6 scoreline.
In difficult weather conditions early on scores proved difficult to come by. Peter and Davy Harte put Errigal Ciaran into an early two point lead before Ronan McNabb opened Dromore’s account. Tommy Canavan and Sean McNabb traded points before centre half back Niall Sludden powered forward to level matters. Errigal Ciaran then hit the front with a well taken Peter Harte penalty after he had been fouled himself with Dromore responding with a Cahir Goodwin point. Mark Kavanagh and Eoin McCusker swapped late points to leave it 1-4 to 0-5 at the short whistle.
Dromore made a lightning start to the second half and they never looked back. Emmett McNabb converted a free off the ground before a superb effort from team captain McCusker levelled matters. In the 38th minute the winners grabbed their goal when great work from Sludden saw him offload to Ryan McCusker who fired to the net past keeper Darragh McAnenly.
Damian McDermott and Eoin Kelly reduced the deficit to the minimum but Errigal Ciaran were never able to get an equaliser. An outstanding point from out on the right wing from Sludden left two between the sides again before McCusker knocked over a free after he had been fouled himself. Ronan McNabb then made it four points in a row on a day when Dromore had nine wides to their opponents one. In the closing stages tempers became frayed with referee Stephen Campbell brandishing red cards to Niall Kelly, Eoin Kelly, Sean McNabb and Paul McHugh. Moments later Errigal Ciaran were reduced to twelve men when Ben McDonnell got a second yellow card as Dromore deservedly took the title.
