Drumragh Ladies Secure Intermediate Title

Drumragh saw off the challenge of Sperrin Óg in the final of the Intermediate Championship at Healy Park comfortably winning on a score line of Drumragh 3-9, Sperrin Og 3-5.
Neamh Cleary opened the scoring with a good point after 2 minutes. Drumragh made it 1-1 t0 0-0 when pressure on the Sperrin Óg kick out resulted in Rihanna Mullin finding the top corner from a tricky angle. Drumragh extended their lead when a speculative shot from Rhianna Barrett looped into the net to give Drumragh the perfect start leading 2-1 to 0-0 after five minutes.
Rihanna Mullin from play made it 2-2 before Sperrin Óg opened their account when clever play from Niamh O’Neill and Caoimhe Warnock set up Alice McGlinchey for a neat finish with twelve minutes on the clock.
Shortly after that it was game on following a brilliant individual Niamh O’Neill goal for Sperrin Óg as she drove through the Drumragh defence to score a brilliant goal after seventeen minutes. The same player converted a free for Sperrin Óg and with twenty minutes only a single point separated the teams.
With half time just around the corner a Caislin Tracey free levelled the scores. However Drumragh finished the half with greater energy and industry to go in at the break leading 2-6 to 2-2. A converted free from Beth Donaghy, a point from Aine McManus, a super score from the pacey Dana Coyle a deflected Rihanna Mullin’s shot at goal which was tipped over by Greencastle goalkeeper Niamh Conway put the Sarsfields in a strong position at the break.
HALF-TIME DRUMRAGH 2-6 SPERRIN OG 2-2
Playing wind assisted in the second half Sperrin Óg got the second half underway with a fine score from Niamh O”Neill to make it Drumragh 2-6 Sperrin Og 2-3. A fine team move resulted in Caoimhe McCarron finding the net for Drumragh. A Genevieve Norris score for Drumragh (36 mins) was followed by almost fifteen minutes without a score but produced a quarter packed with incident and intense stuff as both sides defences proved their worth.
Niamh O’Neill for Sperrin Og, eventually got the scoring going again with a trademark point on 50 minutes but time was against the Greencastle girls. Rhianna Barrett pointed for Drumragh as the clock ticked down.
Dana Coyle fired over for Drumragh as the game entered injury time to leave it Drumragh 3-9 Sperrin Og 3-4.
Sperrin Óg sub Claire Tuohey then hit the net for her side to make it a five point game before Niamh O’Neill rounded off the scoring to leave the final score Drumragh 3-9 Sperrin Óg 3-5
