Drumragh Reserves Lift Gloom With Knock Out Win
Saturday 21.10.2023

Drumragh reserves coasted to victory over neighbours Drumquin in the final of the Connolly’s of Moy division three reserve knockout at Gardrum Park on Saturday afternoon. In so doing they raised the mood somewhat around Clanabogan after last weekend’s championship final defeat.
Sarsfields were fitter and faster all over the field and were first to the ball in most challenges. Early points from Niall Mc Carney, Ben Monk and Kevin Marron put them in a strong position before Cormac Dolan finished a fine team move to hammer the ball to the net.
Finnan Patterson and Mate Gere hit three points between them to get the Drumquin tally going but Drumragh finished the half strongly with points from Eoin Devlin and Cormac Dolan and a superbly taken goal from the impressive Niall Mc Carney. The same player opened the second half scoring for his team with a first minute goal and all but put the game to rest. Drumquin replied with a brace of points from Frankie Mc Alynn to give the Tones hope but Kevin Marron got things going for Drumragh again with a point. Niall Mc Carney then converted three frees in a row before James Broderick burst through for his team’s fourth goal. Paddy Roche pointed from play before Frankie Mc Alynn fired over Drumquin’s sixth point of the game. The game fizzled out as a contest but it was Drumragh who finished the scoring with a fine Barry Kirwin point to leave Drumragh as worthy winners on a score of 4-11 to 0-6.
