The Division Three promotion play-off match between Drumragh and Fintona on Sunday afternoon finished in a convincing five point win for Drumragh on a score of 1-10 to 0-8.

Fintona opted to play wind assisted in the first half but it was Drumragh who settled quickest with a point from Daniel O’Neill which was quickly cancelled out by a Pauric Kelly score for the Pearses.

An Eoin Montgomery goal and a point put the Sarsfields four clear but points from Jared Brogan, Conor Mc Gillion, Conor Mc Goldrick and Peter Mc Glinn tied the game with eight minutes of the first half left.

Drumragh finished the half two in front following scores from Eoin Montgomery and Marty Taggart but it could have been so different for Fintona had Peter Mc Glinn not lost his footing when he broke through on the stroke of half time when bearing down on James Colgan’s goals.

Half time score Drumragh 1-4, Fintona 0-5.

The Sarsfields made the most of that first half let-off and controlled the majority of the play in the second half. They restricted Fintona to pot shots from distance which barely troubled the Drumragh defence while adding six points of their own courtesy of Marty Taggart, Kian Murphy, Ronan Maguire and the very impressive Daniel O’Neill.

Late scores from Peter Mc Glinn and Tommy Mc Grath helped reduce the gap to five at the end but Drumragh were good value for their win and will now look forward to a final playoff game with Division Two side Clogher. That game is scheduled for next Saturday in Beragh.

Final score: Drumragh 1-10, Fintona 0-
