Dungannon Academy justified their pre match favourites tag when they proved too strong for Omagh CBS this afternoon at Galbally in the semi final of the Brock Cup. The East Tyrone College while not playing at their best still did enough to eclipse their Tyrone neighbours on a final score of 3-12 to 0-5.
Dungannon were on top from the off and opened up a four point gap by the break 0-6 to 0-2 with Daniel Kerr and Cormac O’Hagan hitting the target. Andrew Mc Grath was the main attacking threat for Omagh and he finished the afternoon hitting all but one of his team’s six points. The Academy had moved 0-10 to 0-5 in front with six minutes of the game remaining when a Ryan Coleman goal finished the game as a contest. The same player then converted a penalty and with time almost up it was left to Galbally lad Mark Quinn to put a gloss on the scoreline with his side’s third goal.
The Academy will now play the winners of tomorrow’s other semi final between St Pat’s Maghera and St Pat’s Cavan.
