St.Patrick’s Academy, Dungannon 1-20 St.Pat’s Armagh 2-11

St.Patrick’s Academy Dungannon triumphed over their neighbours St Pat’s Armagh this afternoon in a high scoring and very entertaining play off game at Cookstown. An eight minute period in the second when the Tyrone college hit 1-5 without reply proved crucial in the final outcome of this game. The Academy can now look forward to a quarter final clash with Newry side Abbey CBS.

Dungannon reached the break two points in front but a Finnian Maguire goal midway through the second half put Armagh three in front. Lesser sides would have rolled over but the Academy showed their quality, regained the lead and won deservedly.

Dungannon’s best on the day were Conor McCabe, Sean Doran and Liam Rafferty in defence, Ruairi McGlone in midfield and Ryan Coleman, Michael Lynn, Tiarnan Donnelly and the outstanding Conn Kilpatrick up front. Armagh contributed hugely to what was a great game of football with Conor Mc Kenna absolutely superb. The Eglish youngster was the man of the match hitting 1-7 for his side.
