Edendork Capture Grade 3 MFL
Monday 02.09.2019

Edendork are the 2019 Tyrone Grade 3 Minor League Champions following a really competitive game in Clonoe this evening. The St Malachy’s men were made to fight for the win right up until the end but ultimately the goal scoring power of Cain Ferguson proved the real difference between the two teams. Ferguson finished the game with 4-1 on an evening when the thoughts of the players and management were certainly focused on their good friend Connor Currie RIP.
Naomh Padraig opened the scoring through Tiernan O’Neill in the second minute but that point was quickly wiped out as St Malachy’s hit 2-1 inside eight minutes. The goals coming from Cain Ferguson and Neil Kilpatrick in the 6th minute and a point from Kilpatrick in the 10th minute. Naomh Padraig responded with a goal of their own two minutes later as Michael Robinson found space and hit the net. That score rattled Edendork back into action as Ferguson hit his second goal ahead of points from Aidan Dorman and Fionn Devlin. The scoring dried up somewhat for the next ten minutes but with just a minute to the break Eoin McNally rifled the ball to the Edendork net. Cain Ferguson completed the first half scoring with a point. Half Time Score – Edendork 3-3 Naomh Padraig 2-2
Naomh Padraig returned to the field in much better scoring form than Edendork who wasted a number of good opportunities in the first 20 minutes of the second half. Naomh Padraig were much more efficient in front of the posts as Michael Robinson hit four points and Eoin McNally added a further two points. Edendork could only manage a solitary Ben Cullen score during this period.
The last ten minutes would prove a very different story for Edendork. Two Cain Ferguson goals in the 51st and 56th minutes catapulted the St Malachy’s men five points into the lead. The last score came from the man that scored the opening point. Naomh Padraig’s Tiernan O’Neill. Final Score : Edendork 5-4 Naomh Padraig 2-9
