Sunday 23.06.2019
Edendork St Malachy’s Minor Ladies are celebrating this evening following their victory in the Tyrone Ladies Grade 2 Minor Championship final. The Malachy’s girls lost out in the League decider to Moy recently and with that hurt still very much in mind they were keen not to lose out this time around.
Played in excellent conditions on a fine Killyman St Mary’s pitch it was league champions Moy who made the best start to the game leading 1-1 to 0-1 after ten minutes. The goal came from the boot of Cliodhna Goodfellow while Katie Comiskey from Moy and Tara Jane Murphy from Edendork swapped a point apiece. Edendork closed the gap to a single point thanks to points from Tara Jane Murphy and Olivia McGuinness before Moy hit a second goal through Lucy McAlary to move four points ahead. 2-1 to 0-3. That score jolted Edendork into life and five minutes later they led the game by two points after two majors from the boots of Sinead McGeary and Olivia McGuiness. The St Malachy’s girls finished the half strongly adding two more points from McGuinness and another from Eva Corr. Half Time Score : Edendork 2-6 Moy 2-1.
The second half started with three well taken goals, two from Edendork through Lara Devlin and Tara Jane Murphy, and one from Moy thanks to Cliodhna Goodfellow. Edendork heaped on the pressure with further points from Devlin, McGuinness and McGeary before Moy responded with three points of their own via Lucy McAlary and Ellen Ward. The closing stages offered two further points for Sinead McGeary and a goal for Eva Corr. Moy’s Katie Comisky hit the last point of the game. Final Score : Edendork 6-10 Moy 3-5
