Tonight’s Division Two game between Eskra and Edendork will live long in the memory of those who saw it but for all the wrong reasons. After what was a fairly competitive opening thirty minutes the visitors led 1-8 to 1-3 having played with the aid of the wind in the first half. Their goal came from Peter Mallon while Niall Morgan and Darren Mc Currie were among the points for the St Malachy’s. Eskra, who were well in the game at the break, netted in the fifteenth minute of the first half through Mattie Turbett and the ever reliable Peter Hughes got their final score of the half with four minutes left to play.

Amazingly although the home side turned round to play with the wind in the second half only one point was scored in that thirty minute period and that came from Edendork. Eskra failed to add to their total in what was a largely forgettable half of football. Indeed the only thing of note in the second half was the fact that Edendork finished the game with thirteen men as they moved joint top of the league on ten points.
