Edendork dumped last year’s finalists Carrickmore out of the senior championship with a hugely impressive performance in Plunkett Park on Saturday afternoon.

Carrickmore got off to the best possible start when Danny Fullerton converted a 5th minute penalty but in truth that was as good as it got for them. Once Edendork found their tempo, Carrickmore struggled to cope with the pace.

Edendork hit six unanswered points with Harry Og Conlon, Niall Morgan, and Neil Kilpatrick particularly influential. Only a brilliant Jack McCallan save prevented James Fearon finding the net, as the St Malachy’s continued to dominate.

Points from Sean Donnelly and Lorcan McBride narrowed the gap but a McCurry free and Conlon mark saw three points separate the sides at the break.

With Darren McCurry in imperious form Edendork dominated the third quarter and when Stephen Corr scored six points was the difference.

Carrickmore emptied their bench in an attempt to stem the tide but to little effect.

Things got worse for Carrickmore late on when Stephen Grogan saw red but by that stage the game was over as a contest.

It was fitting that the Go man of the match Darren McCurry had the final say, with a classy point from the wing, bringing his tally to nine.

Conleth Gilligan’s men can now plan for a quarter-final meeting with Trillick next weekend.
