Eglish came up short in Sunday’s All Ireland Intermediate Camogie semi-final as Johnstownbridge of Kildare prevailed despite not managing to score when facing the elements in the second half.

Two quick-fire goals midway through the first half put the Leinster champions in a strong position as the wind made life difficult for both sets of players. Eglish struggled in their forward unit during the opening thirty minutes but a brace of scores approaching the break from Ciara Donnelly gave the Tyrone side renewed hope for the second period. Half time score 2-5 to 0-3 in favour of Johnstownbridge.

Eglish took the game to their opponents after the break but in spite of intense pressure they found scores hard to come by. Points from Ciara and Leanne Donnelly narrowed the gap to three and although fullback Brenda Horsfield landed a late point for the Ulster champions Johnstownbridge held out to win 2-5 to 0-9.

Eglish Scorers : Ciara Donnelly (0-7), Leanne Donnelly (0-1), Brenda Horsfield (0-1).
