A strong start and some excellent scoring helped Eglish defeat Eire Óg in the Minor League final at Pairc Chormac on Friday night. Olibhia Farley and Rihanna Mc Loughlin set the tone with early scores and goals before half time from Lottie Mackin, Cara Corrigan and Abby Muldoon helped Eglish establish healthy lead.
Eire Óg took a while to settle but pushed on by Aoife Grugan, Niamh and Orla Mc Elduff and the pace scoring threat of Sorcha Gormley they asked serious questions of the Eglish defence. Eire Óg corner forward Aine Grimes caused all sorts of problems for the favourites but in the end Eglish were worthy winners.
Grace Mc Kenna hit a late brace of goals for Eglish while Niamh Mc Elduff, Sorcha Gormley and Aine Grimes narrowed the gap for Eire Og with well taken goals.
