Eglish 2-19 Moy 1-14
Eglish produced a superb final quarter at O’Neill Park on Sunday evening to deservedly book their place in the Connolly’s of Moy Intermediate championship final when they proved too strong for local rivals Moy.
Its a win that also gaurantees them a quick return to senior football as their opponents in the final are Clonoe who are already up having won the league title. Moy kicked eight first half wides as Eglish enjoyed a 1-9 to 0-6 lead at the short whistle. Dan Muldoon, Luke Donnelly and Ethan Jordan had early points for the winners before midfielder Matthew McGleenan powered through to blast to the net at the end of the opening quarter. Liam McGeary eventually opened Moy’s account and Michael Conroy followed that up with a brace of brilliant two pointers but efforts from Nathan Horsfield and Muldoon left Eglish in control.
Moy though were right back in the game three minutes after the restart when Conroy found the net and when Colm Cavanagh, Ryan Coleman and Patrick McGear all registered they had theitr noses in front for the first time. It also proved to be the only time however as Eglish upped the tempo with former Tyrone star Conor McKenna entering the fray. Donnelly, Jack Muldoon, Dan Muldoon and Jordan all landed points with the latter also knocking over an outstanding two point free from out near the touchgline under the Stand while Donnelly got their second goal. Conroy responded for Moy but with Turlough Muldoon winning a lot of possession Eglish closed the game out with the rampaging Conor Holmes weighing in wityh a trio of points with McKenna also on target.
