It was a windy and blustery Sunday afternoon that welcomed Eglish and Clonduff camogs for the Ulster Intermediate camogie championship final in Granemore Co Armagh.
Eglish had the wind in their favour in the first half and Ciara Donnelly took full advantage after three minutes to register Eglish’s first point. There was a lot of scrappy play in and around the middle of the park as both teams took time to settle. There were a few wides for Eglish before Donnelly burst through the Clonduff defence to score a wonderful goal in the 22nd minute.
With  the wind playing a significant role Clonduff were finding it hard to get out of their own half. It wasn’t until the 25th minute that they registered their first score when Sara Louise Carr slotted over from a free.  Eglish went straight up the other end however and within two minutes Donnelly had added a point and a goal as the first half came to a close.

The wind had not abated as both teams took to the field for the 2nd half. Clonduff’s Carr rifled home a goal two minutes into the second period to give her team the perfect start. A series of wides followed before Karen Haughey added another point for Clonduff. The play continued to be scrappy as Eglish defended stoutly despite being under serious pressure. Paula Gribben then added another point for Clonduff.
The next five minutes were tense with both teams going for everything. Eglish had a few chances to score at the other end but the wind was playing a major part in the game as the wide count just increased. Clonduff added another point with 12 minutes to go to take it to a single point game. Eglish had to defend really deep as Clonduff pressurised again and again. The game was well into injury time when Lisa McPolin drew Clonduff level.
The game ended Eglish 2-2 Clonduff 1-5.
A fair result in the end for both teams and the replay will be next Sunday with the venue yet to be confirmed
