Eglish Win A Thriller

Eglish are through to the last eight of the Intermediate championship after winning a thrilling encounter with Stewartstown at Pomeroy on Saturday afternoon, 2-12 to 0-16 the final scoreline.

It was the Harps who led 0-10 to 1-5 at the break with the help of points from Dan Lowe, Paul Dillon, and Macauley Quinn, Emmett McKenna and Peter McCann with Eglish points with Seamus Muldoon getting their goal.

Mattie McGleenan got a second Eglish goal three minutes into the second half before Lowe and Peter McCann exchanged points. McCann, Ryan McKenna and Conall McNulty then all registered for the winners as they moved four clear. Dillon and Lowe replied for Stewartstown with halfback McNulty getting a second Eglish point. Lowe then took his personal haul to 0-8 to reduce the deficit to the minimum with time running out but Eglish didn’t panic with Emmett McKenna getting their insurance point.
