Eglish are grade 1 U16 league champions for 2018 after an impressive display saw them overcome Carrickmore at Healy Park on a 2-17 to 2-9 scoreline. There was little between the sides throughout the first half before Eglish landed half a dozen unanswered points approaching the break to give them an advantage that they were never to lose.

Luke Donnelly and Daniel Fullerton exchanged early goals before the former found the net again. Daniel Muldoon and Fullerton traded points and after Fullerton had got his second goal Cahir Munroe levelled matters. Donnelly and Muldoon swapped points with Fullerton and Conor Cuddy to leave it 2-5 apiece approaching half time. It was at that stage that the winners made a decisive break with Donnelly and team Captain Michael McGleenan notching three points each to leave it 2-11 to 2-5 at the interval.

Cormac McGeough and Donnelly kept the scoreboard ticking over for Eglish with Fullerton responding for Carrickmore and after the latter missed  a penalty in injury time the St.Patricks held out to deservedly claim the silverware.
