The first championship final of the year was decided in the Post Primary age category on Monday evening at Killyman as Eglish and Edendork met to compete for the Bridie McMenamin Shield.

Both clubs fielded very strong sides and the match which was played on a perfect surface produced a high quality game of Camogie.

There was little between the teams in a close and competitive first half that saw Edendork take the lead with a well timed goal before Eglish levelled a few minutes later. Two further points from Eglish enabled them to end the half 1-2 to 1-0 in front.

Edendork applied all the pressure at the start of the second half with some superb play. Eglish however managed to land a point before Edendork registered their first score of the half. Eglish showed considerable resolve and determination in defence as Edendork again came on strongly.

Eglish added another point to put 3 between the teams as the game edged towards the closing minutes. Edendork came close in a few goalmouth scrambles during the final minutes as they pushed pushed hard for a goal.

Unfortunately for them time ran out and Eglish held out for the win on a final score line of 1-4 to 1-1.

Shannon McCaffery presented the Bridie McMenamin shield to joint Eglish captains Cliodhna Goodfellow and Aisling Begley. The player of the match was Lara Devlin from Edendork who showed great pace and determination in her play throughout the whole game.

Tyrone Camogie would like to thank all at Killyman field especially John for the use of the field and facilities. Also thanks to referee Rebecca Barker and all the supporters who attended the game.
