Both Eire Og senior camógs and hurlers were in championship action on Saturday. First up was the camógs in the 2020 Ulster Bridie McMenamin Shield where they met Antrim’s junior championship winners Creggan. Susan McElwee took the first score and the visitors’ minor star Eavanne Martin was quick into her stride and made all the difference with her accuracy from frees. Carrickmore’s Aoibhinn Daly got her first point from a set play just before the water break. As the rain settled, it was replaced by strong gusts of wind but Creggan maintained the pressure. Although Daly scored a further twice by the break, it was obvious the Eire Óg girls were in for an uphill battle. Martin was moved to full forward, which gave Carrickmore more space in midfield. Daly and Ailise Coyle led the fight back, but Creggan’s solid defence was as impressive as their attack. Three unanswered Carrickmore points wasn’t enough to make the difference and Creggan now move forward to the Ulster semi-final next weekend

Éire Óg: Aoibhinn Daly (0-8, 5f), Ailise Coyle (0-1), Leanne McKernan (0-1)

Creggan: Eavanne Martin (1-11, 0-9f), Susan McElwee (1-1), Ella McAteer (1-0), Ruby Marie Rice (1-0), Ciara McCollum (0-1).
