Carrickmore Eire Óg made it a great weekend for the club when they picked up the Tyrone Minor Hurling title defeating Dungannon Eoghan Ruadh in the final on Sunday afternoon. Shea Munroe’s accuracy from the placed ball was hugely important in the outcome of the game as he finished the game with 1-11

Played in bright sunshine on a perfect surface at Garvaghey there was never any danger that this one would fall foul to the weather. Shea Munroe opened the scoring with three unanswered points before Cormac Mc Erlean struck for Eoghan Ruadh’s first score.

Unfortunately for the Dungannon lads it was Eire Og who continued to look the team most likely as led by Munroe they reached the break leading 0-6 to 0-2.

In spite of being down a man following a first half red card for Cormac Mc Erlean Eoghan Ruadh began the second half on the front foot. Points from Sean Og O Donnell and 1-1 from corner forward Aydin Taggart saw Eoghan Ruadh take the lead. However that was as good as it got for the east Tyrone lads as Shea Munroe hit 1-6 without reply to all but seal the win for Eire Óg.

Rory Woods and Odhran Mullin  swapped points in the closing minutes but Eire Og were not to be denied and they claimed the title on a final score of 1-13 to 1-6,
