Eire Óg hosted Brocagh in the Tier 2 Senior League final on Saturday and produced a very impressive display of controlled Camogie to see off the Loughshore girls on a final score of 6-12 to 1-11. With team captain Aoibhin Daly in commanding form and Sorcha Gormley lighting up the park the hosts were more than good value for the win.
In fairness to Brocagh they refused to throw the towel in and battled right to the end . Unfortunately they came up against a side playing confident camogie and in spite of the best efforts of Catriona Canavan, Sally Mc Cann, Grainne Mc Donald and Aoife Teague they there was no answer to the Eire Óg display.
First half goals from Leeanne Mc Kiernan, Ashlene Hackett, Sorcha Gormley and Maire Kerr put the game beyond Brocagh who found the Eire Óg defence a tough nut to crack. Brocagh did their best to make a game of it in the second half with some superb frees from Grainne Mc Donald but Eire Óg’s pace and work rate ensured there was no way back for the Emmetts.
