Eire Òg Girls Keep The Flag Flying
Sunday 30.11.2025
Éire Óg are through to the All Ireland final after a strong performance against Fr Murphy’s in Blanchardstown on Saturday. The Carrickmore based side were forced into a change before throw in when Ciara Clarke picked up an injury during the warm up, but replacement Minnie McCallan slotted in comfortably.
Sorcha Gormley opened the scoring inside seconds and Niamh McElduff added two more as Éire Óg settled quickly. The defence dominated throughout, with Tara Haughey and Néamhann Ní Dhonnghaile clearing several threatening London attacks. Aoibhinn Daly contributed well in the first half and the Tyrone side led by five at the break.
The second half was more even, although a smart move between Gormley and McElduff restarted the scoring. Amy Mulkeen hit two frees for Fr Murphy’s, but Éire Óg always looked the fitter and sharper side. Even after missing a penalty, the Carrickmore team finished strongly with further points from Daly and McElduff.
A late Fr Murphy’s goal chance was denied by a superb save from Haughey, sealing a fully deserved victory. Éire Óg now move on to the All Ireland final and will aim to add to Tyrone’s recent success in this competition.
