Eire Og turned on the style at Garvaghey on Friday evening as they comprehensively outplayed and defeated Brocagh in the Junior Camogie decider. Full forward Maria Grogan top scored with five goals for the winners while dual star and team captain Ursula Mc Kernan also contributed handsomely to her side’s fine showing.

Eire Og started well with a brace of early goals from Grogan and bossed the game throughout an entertaining first half. Loinnir ni Dhonnghaile and Shannon Kelly ensured their team got plenty of possession and capitalised on it as they reached the break leading 4-3 to 1-5. Brocagh found the pace a bit too fast at times and in spite of the best efforts of Roisin O’Neill, Ursula O’Neill and Faustina  Canavan they struggled to cope with the pace and passion of the Carrickmore girls.

The second half saw little change in the order of the game or the its closeness. Brocagh came close a few times to finding the net but Eire Og goalkeeper Brid Ui Dhonnghaile stood strong. The winners ability to find the net proved crucial as they added four further majors with scorer in chief Grogan particularly sharp.

County Board official Pat Darcy presented the winner’s captain Ursula Mc Kernan with the trophy at the conclusion of the game which ended on a final score of Eire Og 8-7, Brocagh 1-7.
