Eire Óg Lose Out To Talented Loughgiel Side
Saturday 07.01.2023
Eire Óg hurlers came up short in the Leadon Timberframe sponsored Ulster Minor Tournament final on Saturday afternoon losing out to a very talented Loughgiel side on a score of 3-10 to 0-8.
The Tyrone champions will look back at the concession of two first half goals against the run of play that helped send the teams off at the break on level terms 0-8 Eire Óg, 2-2 Loughgiel.
Loughgiel were much improved after the break and controlled the play and possession creating numerous chances for scores. The Eire Óg half backs and midfield had to work exceptionally hard to keep their opponents at bay but Ben Mc Garry, Liam Glackin and Charley O’Hagan worked hard to maintain a steady stream of possession into the Loughgiel forward line.
Aidan Woods, Conor Kerr and Shea Munroe were among the points for Eire Óg in the first half but the loss of those goals to Jack Mc Closkey and Roan Mc Garry proved crucial on the day. Mc Garry found the net for his second goal midway through the second half as Loughgiel found their rhythm and ran out convincing 3-10 to 0-8 winners.
