Two goals inside a minute at the start of the second half proved to be crucial as Brocagh had the minimum to spare over Brackaville at a splendid Derrytresk venue on Friday evening.

Brackaville established a 0-4 to 0-2 lead with Dale McSorley hitting three of those points but Brocagh got on level terms thanks to efforts from Colm McFaul and Michael Hughes. A minute into injury time Ciaran Donnelly brilliantly chipped keeper Stephen O’Neill for a Brocagh goal but in the next attack Sean McNally set up Gary Ferguson for a palmed goal to leave it 1-4 each at the short whistle.

The second half was less than sixty seconds old when McFaul reacted first to a Cathal Donnelly effort coming back off the post to finish to the net from close range. The next kick out was won by the Loughshore men again and when Barry Donnelly delivered it long to his brother Ciaran the full forward fired to the net.

Paddy Gervin and Cathal Donnelly traded points before the latter weighed in with another brace. Brocagh were well in control at this stage but they failed to register in the final quarter. Martin Gervin, McSorley [3] and Shea Fee closed the gap as the contest slipped into injury time. Paddy Gervin converted a free before Martin Gervin landed a superb placed ball from 48m out. That proved to be the last score though as Brocagh held on for a narrow 3-7 to 1-12 victory.
