Senior Hurling League Cup Final
Eoghan Ruadh 2-11 to N. Colum Cille 1-5

On Thursday Night past in Derrytreask, Eoghan Ruadh seniors made it a clean sweep of senior titles in 2012, by winning the League Cup which is a league for those players not playing Inter-county Hurling on what was a night of great hurling.
Unfortunately things got off to a poor start when no referee showed up to officiate the game. Fair play to both teams when they got together and came to an agreement which ensured that the fixture was fulfilled and a great game of hurling was played. The stand in referee did the game, and did a great job in letting the game flow.

Eoghan Ruadh got off to a great start with goals from Mc Erlean & Kieffer Morgan, followed up by a brace of frees from McCrudden & Tiernan Morgan. It looked like the newly crowned county champions could run away with it but credit to Naomh ColmCille they dug deep and displayed their N. Colum Cille showed their battling qualities with some great passages of play from John Connolly and Joe O’Neill. Minor players Jack Ryan & Eamon Duffin defended well for the Cilles, but Dungannon’s forwards were just too experienced and tagged on further points as halftime approached.
In the second half both teams emptied their benches with a return to hurling for the Cilles Lee Canavan & Tommy Nixon. The good quality hurling continued to flow right to the final whistle, with Eoghan Ruadh eventually running out nine point winners. Paul Lavery lifted his third cup of the year from County Board Representative Cathal Daly.
