Sunday 17.09.2023

Errigal Ciaran secured back to back grade 1 U16 Championship titles when they edged out Cookstown 1-13 to 2-7 at Galbally on Saturday afternoon.
Charlie Maguire and Rian McIvor swapped early points before Eoin Long put Cookstown in front. Wind assisted Errigal Ciaran then took over with Senan Canavan scoring a goal and man of the match Shea McDermott converting a few frees as well as a “45” to give them a 1-7 to 0-3 cushion at halftime.
Another brace of McDermott frees on the restart increased the winners advantage before Cookstown fought their way back into contention. Eoin Long palmed in a goal and kicked a few points before substitute Mark Devlin also found the net. On a couple of occasions the Father Rocks reduced the deficit to just two points but each time McDermott converted a free on his way to a personal haul of 0-8 as Errigal Ciaran took the silverware again.
