Errigal Defeat Neighbours

Errigal Ciaran justified their favourites tag when they beat neighbours Carrickmore 0-16 to 0-12 in the first round of the LCC Senior championship at Healy Park on Friday evening.
The first half produced football of a very high quality with the winners greeting the short whistle 0-10 to 0-9 in front. Peter Harte, Tommy Canavan, Darren Canavan and team Captain Cathal McRory were among their points with Martin Penrose, Michael Donaghy and Ciaran Cuddy on target for the St.Colmcilles.
Ronan McRory and Penrose traded points on the restart as did Harte and Penrose but Carrickmore were never able to get level. Penrose got their only score in the final twenty minutes as Errigal Ciaran made it through to a last eight meeting with either Coalisland or Dromore thanks to scores from Darren Canavan and Tommy Canavan.
