Omagh’s senior championship Odyssey came to an end this evening at Carrickmore in spite of a gallant effort when they lost by three points to Errigal Ciaran. St Endas made the perfect start with a fine goal from Conor Clarke on three minutes but they played second fiddle to Errigal for the remainder of the half as Peter and Davy Harte drove the Dunmoyle lads forward at every opportunity.
Six unanswered points followed as Errigal produced some fine flowing football and Omagh struggled to keep with the pace and movement of the winners. A Conan Grugan free on the nineteenth minute halted Errigal’s unbroken scoring run but Errigal finished the half strongly and a brilliant goal from Enda Mc Ginley left the half time score 1-8 to 1-2 in their favour.
St Endas came out a different side in the second half and a fine fourth minute goal from Hugh Gallagher on top of a point from Conor Clarke put them in a very strong position. It was now Errigal’s turn to defend and Aidan Mc Crory and Ciaran Quinn were battling manfully to deal with the Omagh onslaught. Play became very disjointed at times and tempers began to get frayed. Sadly for Omagh they only scored one further point to their tally after Gallagher’s early second half goal and a thirty first minute free from Daisy Mc Dermott eased Errigal into the semi finals.
