In a very close nip and tuck first half Errigal led at the break 0-7 to 0-6 with All Ireland Final Referee Sean Hurson keeping a tight grip on proceedings.

Trillick made the better start with early points from full forward Lee Brennan and  Mattie Donnelly putting them two clear. Darragh Canavan split the posts for Errigal before Ruairi fired over the first of his three first half points.

Brennan pointed to put the Reds in front again but within seconds the sides were level once more following a superb Peter Óg Mc Cartan effort.

The hard work and industry of Joe Oguz and Ben McDonnell around the midfield helped set up Ruairi Canavan to put his side in front again but Ryan Gray brought the sides level with a well taken point from wide on the right wing.

Ruairi Canavan converted his second free and that was quickly followed by a point from play from McDonnell. Trillick though finished the half strongly with Mattie Donnelly beginning to have a bigger influence on the contest. He set up James Garrity for a point before winning a free which Brennan converted from an acute angle. It was Errigal Ciaran though who had the final say of the half through Darragh Canavan after a jinking run saw him sell his marker a dummy before finishing in style.

The holders showed they meant business at the start of the second half with Gray taking a superb point from out on the left wing only for Errigal Ciaran to respond instantly from a Ruairi Canavan free after the impressive Oguz had been fouled.

Errigal dealt with the early pressure before hitting a purple patch of four unanswered points as they began to control the game and create chances. Trillick centre half back Rory Brennan made two superb blocks before Peter Harte converted a free with Ruairi Canavan landing an outstanding point from play as the winners took a grip on proceedings.

Full forward Odhran Robinson landed a huge point to put his team four clear and looking good. They appeared to be well on top at that stage but amazingly they managed to score just once more in the last twenty minutes as the holders stormed back.

Mattie Donnelly fired over an outrageous score from out on the left wing and in 49th minute it was all square when a perfectly timed fisted pass from Stephen O’Donnell picked out Ciaran Daly who showed great composure as he beat Darragh Mc Anenly  with a well placed shot. Sixty seconds later Ruairi Canavan hit what proved to be the winning score with an unbelievable effort from out on the right wing.

There may have been no more scores but the play remained intense and frenetic as both teams battled for supremacy. Trillick pushed forward in search of a equaliser but were turned over a couple of times when in good attacking positions with Aidan McCrory and Cormac Quinn to the fore in the Errigal Ciaran defence.
