Errigal Ciarán Ladies enter this weekend’s county final on the back of an impressive run of form. They concluded their league campaign with two convincing home victories, despite still having three fixtures remaining after Saturday’s decider.

Their opponents, Dungannon, claimed the points in the league meeting between the sides earlier this year following confusion over the scoreline at O’Neill Park. However, Errigal were understrength on that occasion, coming so soon after Tyrone’s county success, and chose to rest five key players, with only two of the five eventually featuring.

Errigal opened their championship campaign on 28 August against Omagh. Having edged a tight league clash between the teams earlier in the season, the Dunmoyle side wasted no time asserting themselves in the championship. Two early goals set the tone as they ran out comprehensive 4-12 to 1-6 winners.

That momentum continued into their quarter-final against Cappagh, where they racked up another emphatic tally of 5-12. Across their opening two championship games, Errigal amassed a total of 9-24, underlining their attacking threat.

The semi-final proved a different contest as they faced Trillick in wet conditions at Aghaloo. On the night scores were at a premium, but Errigal’s defensive organisation shone through, sealing a 0-10 to 0-4 victory and a place in Saturday’s showpiece.

Now, under the lights at O’Neill’s Healy Park, Errigal will look to replicate their 2023 triumph at the same venue when they overcame St Macartan’s. With several standout performers in their ranks, they will be difficult to oppose. Dungannon, however, bring significant talent of their own, setting up what promises to be a compelling final.
