Errigal Ciaran 1-16 Dungannon 1-11

Errigal Ciaran will play holders Dromore in the semi final of the LCC Senior championship after they overcame 2020 champions Dungannon at Carrickmore on Sunday afternoon.

The contest was played in driving rain but both sides deserve credit for the fare that they served up with the Dunmoyle based men emerging worthy winners. Ruairi Canavan and Paul Donaghy swapped points early on before the former palmed in a 7th minute goal after a shot from his brother Darragh went into his path. It was that scored that separated the two sides at the break, 1-6 to 0-6, after both sides had hit quality points from the likes of Peter Harte, Cormac Quinn, Darragh Canavan, Ciaran Barker, Conor McKee and Patrick Quinn.

Another fine McKee point reduced the deficit on the restart but that was as close as the Clarkes were to get to the winners. Ruairi Canavan, Tommy Canavan, Mark Kavanagh and Darragh Canavan all tagged on points for the winners as they pulled clear with Dungannon’s sole response coming from a Donaghy free.

Twice Darragh Canavan and Donaghy exchanged points before a Harte score with his weaker right foot was followed by a free from Tommy Canavan as Errigal Ciaran moved seven in front. Quinn got a much needed score for Dungannon and then in injury time substitute Oran Mallon blasted home a goal. Now only a single score divided the two sides but Errigal Ciaran didn’t panic and when Dungannon keeper Daire Martin was black carded Tommy Canavan converted the resulting free. In the next attack Ruairi Canavan split the posts as well as Errigal Ciaran ran out deserving five point winners on the day.

Errigal Ciaran scorers – Darragh Canavan 0-6 (3F), Ruairi Canavan 1-3, Tommy Canavan 0-3 (2F), Peter Harte 0-2, Cormac Quinn 0-1, Mark Kavanagh 0-1

Dungannon scorers – Paul Donaghy 0-4 (3F), Patrick Quinn 0-3, Oran Mallon 1-0, Ciaran Barker 0-2 (1F, 1 “45”), Connor McKee 0-2
