Errigal Ciaran completed a league double on Saturday at Carrickmore when they defeated Coalisland 2-13 to 0-9 after their under 16 team got the better of Clonoe in a highly entertaining Grade2 league final.

There was little between the teams in the opening twenty minutes with Coalisland enjoying lots of possession in spite of playing against the breeze.

With the game tied at 0-3 apiece after points from Peter and Davey Harte for Errigal and minors from Dermot Thornton, Cormac O’Hagan and Eoghan Rankin for Coalisland, Errigal hit something of a purple patch to put clear daylight between them and their opponents.

Points from Pauric Mc Anenly and Peter Og Mc Cartan were followed by a lovely goal from Mc Cartan before Niall Kelly and Stevie Mc Rory popped over scores to put them seven clear approaching the break. Patrick Mc Neice and Pauric Mc Anenly swapped points as the sides reached the break with Errigal leading comfortably 1-8 to 0-4.

The Island needed a good start to the second half but in truth they rarely troubled their opponents. Two points each was all both teams had to show for the first fifteen minutes of the half before Errigal virtually sealed the win with a lovely team goal that was finished to the net by Davey Harte.

Errigal outscored their opponents 4-3 in the closing eleven minutes as Darren Canavan, Cathal Mc Rory, Mark Kavanagh and Peter Harte converted chances. On a disappointing day for Coalisland Plunkett Kane, Dermot Thornton and Paddy Mc Neice continued to carry the battle to Errigal right to the end.
