League leaders and reigning county champions Errigal Ciarán travelled to Aghyaran on Thursday evening looking to maintain their perfect league record. With the home side short on numbers, the game was played on a 13-a-side basis, with 25 minutes played each way.

Aghyaran started brightly, registering the opening three scores inside the first seven minutes to take an early lead. Errigal settled into the game when Oonagh McAleer opened their account, before Beth Hackett found the back of the net to put the visitors in front. Aghyaran responded almost immediately to level the game.

Eimear Corrigan and Eimear McDonnell added points for Errigal, with Aghyaran again responding to bring the sides level. With the half drawing to a close, Michaela Moore kicked the final score of the opening period to give Errigal a one-point advantage at the break.

Errigal came flying out of the blocks after the restart, scoring 1-1 inside the opening three minutes. Shannon Cunningham converted a free before Kelly McCaffrey found the net for Errigal’s second goal. Aghyaran managed to register two further scores, but the county champions remained in control.

Shannon Cunningham, Elle McNamee and Bronagh McAleer all added scores as Errigal put the result beyond doubt and continued their remarkable league campaign.

The victory sees Errigal Ciarán maintain their 100% record — eight wins from eight.
