Errigal Thirds Pip Carmen At The Death.

We mentioned at the weekend how important it was to play to the last whistle and how some clubs just seem to have the knack of doing it. Well as if to back it up we had a Division Three game tonight between Errigal Thirds and Carrickmore Thirds where the game was only decided in the very last minute. Carrickmore had led at half time thanks largely to a Niall Mullin goal which left the half time score 1-3 to 0-4 in favour of the men in green and gold.
Well if the first half was tight and competitive the second half was even more so with the teams all square as the game entered the final minutes. The score line read Carrickmore 1-5 Errigal 0-8 but with time almost up there was one last twist to come. A mistake in the Carrickmore defence allowed Damien Mc Dermott to pounce for a match winning goal to leave the final score Carrickmore 1-5, Errigal Ciaran 1-8. Mc Dermott, Mark Harte and Matthew Harte were on target with points for the winners while Peter Tierney and Michael Donnelly pointed for a very disappointed Carrickmore side.
