Errigal Through To Decider
Monday 07.10.2024
The Healy Park stand was still reverberating from the roar that greeted Killyclogher’s equalising score deep in injury time when the Errigal Ciaran supporters in the crowd were on their feet applauding and cheering a superb match winning score from Peter Harte. Harte’s late, late point sealed the win for the Dunmoyle outfit and sends them through to a final meeting with old rivals Trillick.
Errigal were deserving winners overall but they might be a little concerned at their failure to convert chances. The other big worry from Sunday’s game was the injury to Darragh Canavan early in the game which certainly restricted his influence on the contest.
Killyclogher opened the scoring with early points from Mark Bradley and Conall Mc Cann before a brace of Ruairi Canavan efforts tied the scores after fifteen minutes.
Killyclogher were back in front again within two minutes when Tiernan Mc Cann landed a huge score after a strong run through the Errigal defence. Ruairi Canavan cancelled that score out before a superb piece of play was finished to the net by the outstanding Peter Harte.

Buoyed by that score Errigal grew in confidence and points from Peter Harte and Padraig Mc Girr had them 1-5 to 0-4 in front. Aidan McCrory found himself close to goal and made the most of a loose ball to send the teams off at the break with Errigal in control and leading 1-6 to 0-4.
Shortly after the restart Ruairi Canavan converted a 45. Killyclogher squandered a great chance to get back into the game when Mark Bradley had a penalty saved by Errigal keeper Darragh Mc Anenly.
Conall McCann reduced the deficit to five with a converted free but with the clock ticking and score so hard to come by it seemed that time was against them. With less than eight minutes on the clock Tommy Canavan converted a free before Nathan Donnelly’s solo effort brought the gap down to four.
A strong run and fine finish from Joe Oguz was added to when Odhran Robinson made the most of possession late in the game.
But there was still time for late drama. After Nathan Donnelly was fouled in the square Bradley fired to the net and suddenly it was a three point game.
Ruairi Canavan and Bradley hit points for their respective sides before, in a move that has served Killyclogher well this year, a high ball dropped into the Errigal square. Oisin McCann jumped highest and flicked it to the net to send the Killyclogher contingent wild.
Unfortunately for them there was still time for one more roll of the dice and Peter Harte had the final say when he fired over from wide on the left to win it.
